canon/nikon
i've been reading up on nikon DSLRs recently.
NO i'm not planning on changing my camera. cos my friend is thinking of whether to get a canon or nikon SLR. and he asked me,"so matthew, which one do you think is more userfriendly? canon or nikon?" i was thinking... since he knew that i use canon of cos i'll say canon la! haha but i feel that canon is userfriendlier cos i've used the D70 to shoot an event before...
and thru this i can tell he's not very firmiliar with SLRs. cos he told asked me which is better. a canon 450D or D300. errr its kinda wrong to compare like that cos a 5D can be comparable with a d300 as they are full frame sensors(correct me if i'm wrong).
and the D300 looks really ugly. so is the D3. hehe. the canon 1DMIII however looks rather cool.:)
hopefully i get can collect my camera tomorow in church!

today is one of the most sian days...
but at least i'm updating myself on the Roland Garros French Open 2008. Nadal is doing very well.. as usual. looking at the highlights every morning at 11am...its quite sad to see top players in the world losing to people ranked #143. Federer is struggling too.
after a short nap i walked down to the kitchen to get a drink... just then i saw from far out in the car porch there were letters in the letter box. since i couldn't get out of house i might as well take in the letters since that's the furtherest i'll be away from home. and i was seriously shocked to see that i've got a letter.
i brought it back to my room...opened it and i was lost for words. i mean what i saw in the letter was the least i expect to see anytime soon. but its definetly good news! HA yellow paper...
i haven't been watching mythbusters.:( if anyone finds a shop where they sell mythbusters season 5 pls let me know!
and i heard todays Chemistry O level SPA. hope it was managable for everyone.
since i've got nothing to do at home. i've been using my table lamp and 2 peices of white A4 paper to create a really mini photo studio on my table. yes table! so i've been random and did this(above) just 2 hours back.

TENNIS!
The Roland Garros French Open is darn exciting. i've been watching the highlights...Nadal is doing really well... i know he'll definetly win this 4th french open title but i really want Ferderer to get it.
hehe did you know i used to play tennis? just that i stopped and started playing more badminton but i still know how to play la.:)
2 nights back i watched Epic Movie with my sis. haha its really stupid but kinda funny. the different movies were quite nicely linked together.
and i went paragon today to visit my dentist to fix my broken bracket. he replaced it with a bigger and stronger one. haha looks as though i've some worm on my tooth.
do you feel as though you're all alone sometimes and everything just doesn't seem right?

yesterday. i met sj and we went canon service centre together to collect our camera euipment. he collected his 50mm f/1.4 and i collected Ai's 400D. i brought along my 17-50 to test. wow.. its a really sharp lens but the motor is insanly loud!
went home after that and fell down while walking up the escalater and got a few cuts from the sharp corners and i dropped the camera bag. opps:(
today... went school for D&T. haha we didn't do much actually... in the end my friends and i started playing pool with tennis balls and blasting music in the D&T studio. HAHA today is an unproductive day.
i'm bored...

i recently found out something pretty cool about mercedes S class cars, the newest models seen on the road.
usually cars only have independent suspension on the front two wheels. but the S class has it on all 4 wheels. and the S class has the technology to stay perpendicular to the ground when its on a slope. i couldn't believe it myself. cos my house is situated on a slope...and not just once but a few times that i've been the car in the position.really amazing... thats why people spend $180,000 on cars.
and recently seen in the New Paper, Volve is gonna start manufacturing a 2 door convertable which is crash resistant. say for example a car crashes itself into the side door of the volvo... yes the exterior will be damaged, but the interior will not be... thats why people will spend $200,000+ on this car.
i hope singapore will have a motorshow this year!

yesterday sarah, gerald and i attended the hillsongs united worship service. i must say it was really good. the songs were no stranger to me.. thankfully cos the songs they sang were from the CD my mum gave me.
and i was kinda delighted when i saw my p3 form teacher sitting right infront of me during the worship. i really love the song hosanna.. especially the bridge. after the sermon,, the 3 of us left...
haha we were still hungry so we popped by the food fair and we went around getting FREE food samples! YAY! free must take, cheap must buy expensive must bargain! but we also bought our own food la like ramly burger!
at 10pm it closed so we went back home.
today... after church at 3.45pm. my mum and ses went to expo to the food fair, robinson's sale and popular sale too. my dad and i went bowling. my score today was very very bad... i think if XW sees this he'll prob call me a loser. haha! i had 94, 95 and 98. :(
and tmr is MT O level exams for my friends... all the best do well and don't sleep during the paper. dunno how to read just whack! :)

Ice Kacang
i went bishan yesterday for dinner with my dad. we bought our dinner at the food junction. my dad bought his ban mian with ice kacang.
i find some random stuff about me eating ice kacang...
1- once the ice kacang is prepared i always wanna be the first to find all the parts with the condense milk among the huge pile of ice.
2-i always have problems breaking the ice up so that i can quickly go to the bottom of the bowl. the ice will always unknowingly drop onto the table. haha
3-once i reach the bottom of the bowl, i'll always look for all the read beans and quickly eat them up... and leave all the yellow disgusting corn to someone else. haha but i'll also eat some la. and i'll find the black, red and green jelly too.
i love ice kacang!

haha IT! last year during on of the scout meetings my friend YL found this wooden block. i took it and drew on it... and named it IT! hahaha.
and the red marls aren't blood... cos i left the block in my pencil case once and my red pen's cap came off so it kinda made it look like its blood. haha

wow after the restringing of my badminton racket... its really steady now!
school ended pretty early today. i wanted to go bowling after school but i'll be going on sunday so yea... didn't.
we got back our report books today. my L1R4 is....
then since we still had an hour to spare till 9.30 we just talked crap bout teachers in school. haha
tomorrow! yes gonna be exciting. i'll be buying my lens! $525. reciept, local 3 year warranty. and thankfully that guy is meeting me in bishan... near my house. then i'll be going to church to practice for a skit with gerald. haha lijun suggest that we 2 have chemistry. HAHA. and then me, sarah and gerald would be going singapore expo for the hillsongs concert! YAY! anyone else going?
i just remembered... i really had a fun and enjoyable time playing around with the canon 1Dm3 & 1Ds and 40D and 5D when i went malaysia on monday... they were mounted on super telephoto lenses like the 300mm, 500mm and 600mm. hopefully when i go KL in june there will be another shop like that. HAHA
and as you would know by now... when you come here there would be a song playing... listen to it. really nice song

scouts and BB did road marshaling... as such, we didn't run! i was assigned by my wonderful juniors to take care of a sport along the beach. it was sure beautiful!
i also got badminton racket restring and change the hand guard. haha now my racket's hand guard is lime green and my dad's is white... cool cool colours! and i also collected my phone too!
today is a good day. tmr... even better. i end school at 9.30am!

i got back the rest of my papers today. sucks really...
the best was SS. cos Tang was scolding all the students who did well for N levels but for mid year ss, they deproved. then tang said,"who is Mr Lim Ziteng?" then i went,"er me." then all he did was just giving me a stare...
but thankfully, later i found out i did pretty well for the SS paper.
then after school i met gerald, tiffany and priscilla for lunch at KAP. HA priscilla is weird!!! i didn't know why i couldn't finish eating my fries. then after lunch i took the bus back home... i didn't realised i left $2 on my seat... opps
then when i got on bus 153 to go home.. along PIE, i saw this convoy of like almost 15 police BMW motorcycles, 10 white merc C-class, 10 white toyota camry and 2 BMW M4s. and right in between them was a merc S-class... in is should be one really important dude.
YAY gonna collect my camera soon!!

i got back my results today....
they suck real bad. even though they suck i'm still in the class' top 20. this shows how 'good' my class is. the only thing i'm proud of is my math.

kinda cool. malaysians need to improve thier daytona skills... and i almost bought a tamron lens. gosh a canon 17-55mm f/2.8 IS is RM4100! a tamron 17-50mmf/2.8 is RM1470. sadly singapore is more worth it to buy a first hand lens.
i tried the canon 10-22mm...sweet stuff. and i didn't know there was a canon 60mm f/2.8...
the jams are massive...

my day
today was quite a nice day... last night i was pretty much disgusted.
i wanna thank gloria, delicia and vicky for getting me a really big and heavy cheese cake for my birthday. on the cake it says,"HAPPY BIRTHDAY ZITENG" HAHAHA. thanks you alot girls! :)
after church went lunch with wei wei, bonnie, sarah, tin tin and gerald. then i went gerald's house to play. HA PLAY!
hmmm tomorrow...my parents, my sis and i would be driving in JB for the day. YAY shopping! i wanna buy new shirts!!!
and i'll be lending my dSLR to Ai for her cambodia trip. we'll be kinda exchanging cameras. kinda long story... but at least my camera is traveling. haha and i've decided to buy my tamron for $525 instead...comes with HOYA UV filter, hood, singapore warranty. this is a better deal.

scgs campfire
in the evening today i went for the scgs guides campfire. xw and i agreed that we weren't gonna wear full scout u and just wear a scout base tshirt, pants and shoes.
we were like the earliest among the whole troop that came. haha and when they were playing the bomb game we were damn scared they bomb us. good thing the rest of the troop came. hmm the theme was quite an interesting idea. love the painted banner.
hmm performance... was alright. like every other school it gets a little slow moving but can't blame them la.. and acsbr scouts were retardedly insane. they were damn enthu!
well, just hope that my school's gangshow will be the best ever!

i'm kinda fustrated.
i mean, now that i know a little more about photography, be it composition, exposure... i started to comment on photographer way of shooting and also they comment on mine.
my dad passed me a CD full of pictures which will be published in the church directory soon. and my job is too crop every picture into its right dimensions... for family landscape shots, i use 6:4 which is 3:2. for single people potraits i use 8:10 which is 4:5. i was kinda amused by how the photographer shot it( i've no idea who shot it). i mean... pictures are slunted!!!(ALMOST EVERY SHOT), underexposed even with flash, legs and arms and hair are cut off from the frame, whitebalance is too warm. and the worse is cropping... cos earlier on i said above i use the 2 dimensions... the photographer's camera's dimensions were all different... the only one which was 6:4 was from SJ's camera and mine.( our family shot) so its kinda hard... cos i need to decide whether to cut off the leg or the hand or the foot or the arm.
but there was this family photo which was taken in a studio... really really lovely shot. sadly i won't be posting it here but the couple and thier 2 children just look tooo adorable. BUT, the dimensions were wrong so i had to change. haha
abover all... PICASA2 is really serving well! its a very userfriendly software to use. even though photoshop 5.0 is way better.
well, this morning i went to serangoon station along the NEL and sold off my lens to a gentleman. NOW to get my 17-50.

yay finally managed to send my phone for servicing. and they gave me a brand new battery!
and while playing badminton i whacked so hard my racket string snapped and broke. haha oppsy...

sci practical is stupid! at least i'm in the third shift.
and i went to nokia servicing centre at wheelock place. it was such a long queue so i just walked down orchard road to paragon. and my dentist changed to a thicker wire for my lower jaw and put in a new bracket which is like super uncomfortable now!
sigh i keep thinking tmr is saturday. hopefully saturday i can service my camera and phone... and in the evening go scgs for campfire.
haha i've this friend of mine from my class... on tuesday for our D&T paper he brought a transparent box file and also that(on top). and its kinda stupid cos if he holds it at any angle anyone will be able to see it. haha. after noticing that he wrapped it in a piece paper.

had no paper today... whew
went to the airport to pick my sis up. i was there 1 hour early. i walked the whole T2... like from arrival hall to departure hall to viewing mall. then i still had some time so i took a skytrain to T3... but as i got off the skytrain, i recieved a msg from airport saying the plane has landed... so i went back to T2... bought myself a $1 apple pie. haha save money.
YES tmr is the last and final paper for the term!!! doing wheelock place to service my phone then to paragon doe dental appointment

I'm Seventeen!
D&T paper was like the toilet bowl man... stunk like crazy. Part A was ok-ok. Part B has 3 questions with at least 5 parts to each question... when it came to the 3rd question i was like,"what in the world is this?" so... like what my friend says, i lalala-ed my way thru the paper. HAHA
i really wasted 2 hours of my life doing that retarded paper.
after the paper i walked to united sq(starbucks) to meet gerald and 2 of his poly friends... i spent like $12.50 on a grande caramel coffee blended and an oreo cheese cake. ha so i didn't eat lunch... surprisingly i was rather fool.
yea and i wanna thank the following friends who have wished me. kevin(who wished me last week), tiffany, gloria, priscilla, delicia, gerald, SOH xin wen!, arnold and some of my classmates. haha.
monica is the best la... last night after the 9 o'clock chinese show at 10pm i wanted to read up my D&T book then she called and wished me happy birthday because in aussie time... it was midnight then. hahaha. and monica's name should be fitted inbetween tiffany and gloria :)
oh oh oh.. Clubsnap wished me happy birthday too. HAhA!!!

its feels pretty good when people are wanting to buy something you sell. however it gets rather annoying that you gotta wait for a long long time before someone asks you to quote him/her.
there are a number of people interested in buying over my lens... i even asked my aunt and jamie whether they have friends who are canon SLR users.
tmr is finally my 2nd last paper! after my exams... i wanna go sakae sushi, meet up my friends for lunch, service my phone, service my camera, hopefully sell my lens.

today was quite a stressful day during worship... i was a little irritated. during class i recieved a birthday card... thanks! i dunno why but i'm kinda looking forward to my birthday this year.

i was supposed to be shooting for my aunty's confirmation of membership... but couldn't gte any proper nicely taken shots. however i managed to snap a few of aunty clara. like this shot in particular though.

SOLD!
i have finally sold off my kit lens... yesterday it was only on reserved status but now its officially sold. i'll be meeting the buyer at bishan mrt station later today...
yesterday i went bowling with nic and xw... i was kinda dissapointed with my score. we played 4 games... my scores were 99, 127, 112 and 175... my last games was really tyco. i had like 1 spare, 3 strikes(TURKEY!!!) then another 3 spares. and i MUST credit xw for his points. haha!
my uncle stays in a rented 3 room apartment in Maple Woods, but cos rent is getting too high so he has moved to a 2 room rented apartment still in the same condo... as such, he Gave my family his Toshiba Plasma TV! its damn huge and awesome!
so now the TV and other furniture is in my house's hall... gotta rearrange them soon. yay!

i'm in the midst of selling away my 18-55mm and tamron 28-75mm f/2.8. so far i've sold the kit lens to a lady at $XX. hopefully a good buyer buys the tamron... with that i'll buy a 2nd hand tamron 17-50mm... i ain't gonna care about that 25mm less.

RAHH!!! my sis just told me pearlyn, dennis' girlfriend, just sold her crumpler 7million dollar home to a clubsnapper! WHY WHY WHY???!!!! if she had told me she was selling i would buy it without any hesitation! its only $120... normal selling price now is $166 at crumpler store. :S
oh well... its okay. i'll wait and save up enough money and buy. :D
today is a boring day... only went school for a 1 hr 15 min paper! BOO!!! haha i completed my paper in an hour, so i spent the next 15 mins thinking to myself whether i should borrow the sigma 18-200mm for my trip to malaysia in june. hmmm

"what a day"
yes yes what a day... a day where i "painfully suffer" at home and my friends "have a time of thier lifes" in school. especially a friend in particular. hehe!
so while everyone in school was "enjoying" thier day in school, i was "suffering" at home. i cycled to bishan to collect something from a tailor for my sis. i watched Goal!, on starmovies... quite a nice movie to watch...
and the best part of all! i recieved a call from my dad saying he has recieved in softcopy the pictures taken from the studio last thursday! i've seen them, edited some on my own... and thankfully with flickr i'm able to see what shutter speeds and f stops he uses...
i was just looking at glori's blog... i didn't know she bought so manyother equipment other than her 450D and 17-50...

Material things
i feel good today.
sigh i'm so so materialistic. i want so many many stuff... for my camera stuff, i plan by next year to sell both the kit lens and tamron... but even if i sell i would only get at most $500 but i need to raise $50-$100 bucks for the 17-50mm
and i'm still very much wanting to get crumpler's 6 or 7 million dollar home. it may be noisy but not as noisy as the 4 or 5 million dollar home. and cos like soon i'll be buying a flash so when if i were to carry my full load the existing one might to fit all. but this can wai...
and i wanna buy a telephoto lens. its a kinda lens with a much longer focal length. i've been dreaming of owning a 70-200 f/2.8L but its far too expensive and heavy. i'm kinda interested in the 55-250 IS but looking at the price of it... doesn't really give me confidence. but its kinda worth it.
oh well, i saw this really cool crysler 300c today while waiting for my bus opp school. its almost the length of 2 toyota Vios. its a singapore registered call as well. aw man i wanna see it again soon:D yea and when i took this shot this fella on the bike just came cycling thru. RAHH!

ever since i've gone up to youth... i've seldom OR never spoken to anyone from the intermediate department. kinda sad actually. and the worst part is that i also can't care less about talkin to them.
oh well, i went up to the department for a while today... it brought back some memories during the 4 years i was there. all the fun i had, the lessons... the scoldings(haha).
and had a chat with gloria just before i left church. yeah it was good...

Yesterday!!! was kinda fun... went to a photostudio at peace cantre for a family potrait and some funny poses. there was one pose where i was lying down under a stool and my sisters all kneeling around me.
i'll post up when i recieve them in softcopy.
after that my family went to this hotel... i think its called grand crtopthone or something like that. yeah the buffet was good.
Today!!! had math paper 1 and geog paper 2. wa die die die... it was really really difficult. i almost cried while doing it. some of my classmates even left pages blank... :( must do better fotr math paper 2!
after the paper studied with nic then a friend came along! haha
met gerald after that and made our way down to serene centre. ISLAND CREAMERY!!! the teh tarik and caramel icecream is the best la!!! after that even everyone came we headed over to adam road food centre for dinner then headed back home.
RAHH tmr is tuition and tuition. :(
